New at Narrative: Marko Babić, Software Engineer

by Zeke Sexauer, on July 25, 2019

Marko Babić joins the Narrative team as our northernmost employee. After growing up in the Northwest Territories of Canada, Marko now lives in the (relatively) balmy environs of Victoria, British Columbia.

As a backend developer, Marko works with the product team and his fellow engineers to take systems and user-facing features from design to launch.

Marko comes to us from Amazon, where he had a hand in all things to do with search and inventory discovery for one of Amazon's eCommerce subsidiaries, AbeBooks. He was responsible for everything from automating the operation of large clusters of supporting infrastructure, building out high volume data pipelines, and optimizing resource utilization to delivering personalization features, tuning relevance, and making search experience improvements.

His experience in building and maintaining distributed systems and operationalizing data to drive customer experience improvements will help as Narrative expands its marketplace offerings and eliminates inefficiencies and frictions to help grow the burgeoning data economy.

Marko graduated from the University of Alberta with degrees in mathematics and computer science.

When he's not writing code, Marko enjoys writing music. He also loves to try new things in the kitchen. A perfect night for him is walking around town gathering ingredients to make a delicious Thai meal at home.
